Weekend & Workout Roundup

Good morning everyone! I hope you’ve all had a great weekend. I had quite a busy one, and it’s not over yet because we’re going to see HANSON tonight! I know, I know, you’re jealous. Totally understandable.

First, a few photos to give you a glimpse into my weekend:

I’ll do a more detailed marathon volunteering re-cap tomorrow – it was quite a day!

Now that I’ve started a couple workout programs I’ve decided to go back to posting workouts here on the blog. Here’s a look at last week’s workouts:

Monday: OFF

Tuesday: 3 miles (9:10 pace) + 18 minute weight workout

Wednesday: elliptical + purely inspire workout (circuit)

Thursday: 3 miles (9:05 pace) + purely inspire workout (weights)

Friday: 45 minutes elliptical + abs

Saturday: 6 miles!!!!!! (9:45 pace)

Sunday: Volunteer Chicago Marathon (on feet from 6:30am to 2:00pm aka active rest day…)

And there you have it! I was so excited that I got in the 6 miles on Saturday and although it was a little harder than I’d have wanted, the time FLEW by because I ran with a friend from law school and we were talking the whole time. Running buddies are the best.

I also skipped a Purely Fit workout on Friday because it was a circuit using 6 moves and 3 of them were just too advanced for me. They have ways that you can make it easier for beginners, but it was one of those days I just wasn’t in the mood and wanted an easy workout that required little thinking. Hence, the elliptical.

Here’s what I have coming up for this week:

Monday: 3 miles + Purely Inspire Workout 3 (circuit with set reps – see how many rounds you can repeat in 18 minutes)

Tuesday: Purely Fit Workout #30 Butt Blaster (um scared…)

Wednesday: 2 miles + Purely Inspire Workout 6 (15 minute HIIT workout)

Thursday: 3 miles + elliptical + abs

Friday: Purely Inspire Workout 7 (16 minute weight circuit workout)

Saturday: 4 miles

Sunday: REST

As usual, my workout schedule is always ready to be adjusted. If I don’t feel like working out one day, I’ll make that my rest day instead of Sunday, this is just how I scheduled it since I took yesterday off. Also – if I’m not feeling one workout one day, I can always move them around!

What did you do this weekend?

Have you ever volunteered for a race?

What’s your workout today?

  1. Hason?!?! I am so so jealous. Favorite boy band of the 90’s, hands down.
I feel like my allergies are up or a cold is coming on, so today will be a rest day for me so I can get to all of my CrossFit workouts later this week! This weekend was spent enjoying the wedding of my childhood best friend and celebrating six years with my man. It was a great weekend!

  2. Good for you for volunteering for the Marathon! Embarrassingly since I’ve done so many races, I’ve never volunteered – I really think I need to get on that! I bet it’s super motivating and fun, and hopefully you were able to cheer on some struggling runners – mile 18 is a perfect spot!

    • This was the first time I’ve ever volunteered – haha I felt bad as well! It was actually really fun, made me want to run another marathon ASAP, and the time flew by!

  3. Hey Katie! I’ve been a reader of your blog for over 2 years now but this is my first comment. I was wondering, is that a kindle or iPad you have? I recently ordered a kindle fire HD with what looks like the same case as what you have. If it is a kindle, does your case work properly? I can’t for the life of me get the auto sleep/wake feature to work. Just curious if you’ve had any issues with yours. Have a great day!

      • No matter what I’ve done, when I close the case the kindle stays on and when I open the case the kindle doesn’t wake up. We have the same cases but I spoke with amazon and they’re sending me a replacement and deeming the other one as defective. Thanks for answering my questions 🙂

  4. Love seeing your workouts! Thy always inspire me to stay on my game for the week.
Yesterday I ran three miles that finally felt good for the first time in 5 months (since having shoulder surgery!) I can’t wait to run some more!
Today, I already did a 90 minute tap class and now I’m off to the gym to complete 45 minutes on the elliptical and an ab circuit of some sort.
    Happy Monday!

  5. Hanson still tours?!? HAHAHA I love it.

I helped my best friend sell her jewelry that she makes at a local art festival all weekend. Perfect fall weather for it, too!

I’ve never volunteered for a race because I’m too anxious to do that by myself. At least when I race/run by myself, I don’t have to worry about that. 🙂
