Hey everyone, Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a good weekend! I spent a lot of time studying over the weekend, but I also had my first kickball game which was a great way to take a break for a few hours, meet some new people and have fun! And then back to studying… haha. At least I’ve done this so many times that I don’t stress myself out too much about it at this point!
Anyway, let’s take a look at last week’s workouts:
Monday – Workout A + Cardio
Tuesday – Cardio intervals + Core workout
Wednesday – Workout B + Cardio
Thursday – Cardio intervals + Core workout
Friday – Workout C + Cardio
Saturday – Yoga Rest Day
Sunday – Kickball
And here is what I have coming up for this week:
Monday – Workout A + Cardio
Tuesday – Cardio intervals + Core workout
Wednesday – Workout B + Cardio (or Rest depending on studying)
Thursday – Cardio intervals + Core workout
Friday – Workout C + Cardio
Saturday – Run or Rest
Sunday – Kickball (maybe morning run if I didn’t get it in Saturday)
I’ve been liking this 3rd phase in Tina’s Best Body Boot Camp because it’s different from the others. Although we’re following the same kind of schedule (strength 3 days, cardio 2 days, 2 days optional), the strength is more heavy lifting so it’s a change of pace. It’s also a change of location for me! In my gym the heavy free weights are in a different area… aka where all the men carrying around protein drinks go and lift weights, grunt, and sit there (yes, I’m being funny). I hadn’t been up to that part of my gym in a while, so I was a bit intimidated at first, but I just had to remember, who cares what they think of me!
Along with two days of heavy weights, the third day of strength has been more cardio/circuit oriented and doesn’t require any weights at all. Although I did it in the gym since I needed to use the elliptical as well, I could have easily done it at home or outside in the park! There was one move, however, that was just not going very well… The Frogger.
As much as I tried I could not get my feet anywhere near my hands! I looked ridiculous… haha. But I tried!
What’s one workout move that you find to be particularly difficult?
Do you like heavy lifting or body weight strength training?
OMG i’m such a spaz. there’s no way I could do that frogger thing haha
Haha I am just so not flexible enough to jump into that position!
I think I tried that frogger thing for elementary school gym class! Haha but it would take me a lonngg time to be able to do it again!
Hahaha I can see kids doing it since they’re so flexible!
I always tell myself that when an exercise is really hard for me, it’s probably the one I need the most. That works…. sometimes 🙂 For me (and this is going to sound silly), it’s lateral raises. I swear, two years of strength training, and I’ve never increased the weight or felt they’ve gotten any easier.
I like to get a good mix of heavy weights/bodyweight training. I feel like mixing it up is key!
I agree – lateral raises are hard for me too!
DEADLIFTING.
I struggle with that every time more because I seem to never get the, uh, sequencing right.
have I told you how long its been since I deadlifted? 🙂
Oh geez, I don’t think I dead-lift correctly… I should look into this.
I love the sunglasses! Is that Picmonkey?! no way I’d be able to do the Frogger haha
Yep, it’s PicMonkey! I make all my weekly workout images on there!
Sunglasses workout schedule is too fun. Makes me want summer to come here even more!
I’m absolutely awful at skull crushers. It’s just so gosh dang hard to keep your elbows in line!
Haha I was in a summery mood when I made it!
That move does look extraordinarily difficult! At least you tried, right? 🙂 I’ve heard great things about Best Body Boot Camp. I can’t wait to hear the rest of your experiences!
I like body weight strength training more. There was a point in time where all I did was heavy lifting for like 2 months, and I ended up overworking myself and giving myself insomnia. That was not a fun phase…
Haha exactly, I’ tried!
Whenever Tim tries to make us do this in Sculpt class I laugh. It never happens-not even close.
Lol we should all practice together… that would look amusing.
After years of practising, I still find push-ups really hard. I will get there though!
I’m the same, Dannii!
I much prefer body weight strength training. I feel like body weight moves work my muscles and the cardio!
I agree – I get way more cardio out of body weight moves than with weights!
I’m glad you had fun yesterday!
Haha I actually wrote this post before I even went… but deifnitely had fun!
I had the hardest time going into the big boys section of the gym at first. Holy intimidating! Luckily I have gotten over that and enjoy just doing my own thing regardless of what they may think of me. Push-ups and lateral raises are my hardest. I do girl push-ups and still think its hard to get in a full set.
Yea, I think you just have to jump in and go for it, and forget what all those guys think of you! And I totally do girly push ups, I’m so awful at them.
For some reason, mountain climbers are just the worst. Any time they are on a circuit workout I try to replace them with another move. For some reason my body just does not do them, haha.
I do them, but they make my shoulders and arms tired more than anything!
HAHA. The frogger. Love it. I love squats & mountain climbers….as in they rock my socks off & kick my butt every.time.
Looks like a great week of workouts!
I bet you’re one of those people who can do the frogger!
I like using both heavy weight and body weight. I try to switch it up every week with circuit workouts that incorporate both types. However, I always dread burpees! Jumping lunges can be tiring too.
