Morning! Thanks so much for all your support from my post yesterday, I got a lot of great ideas on what to do for my stomach problems!
So today is Wednesday, which means it’s time for another WIAW! If you don’t know what What I Ate Wednesday is all about, head over to Peas and Crayons to see all the other blogs who participate and get an explanation!
So normally on Tuesdays I only have one class, from 4:00-5:25 (jealous much?) but I have a teacher who is missing a few classes later in the semester, so he scheduled a make up for yesterday from 12:50-1:45, which meant I had a “half day” at school (just the second half instead of the first).
I decided for this half day that I wanted to eat lunch before I left at 11:50, so I planned to have breakfast earlier so I could have lunch earlier. I woke up, did a few things around my apartment and posted to my blog, and then I went ahead and made some Apple Pie Oatmeal for breakfast.
Delicious, as always. I think this is my favorite oatmeal recipe of mine. I also had it with a cup of coffee. Then I did an at-home workout. I kind of just made up a few circuits including various ab moves, things with my small weights and plenty of leg strengthening moves for my IT band. I actually was surprised how sweaty I was by the end of the 35 minutes. Of course I was watching the Bachelor Pad finale while doing this.
A couple hours later I made some iced chai tea with almond milk, and I also had a little piece of dark chocolate with almond butter (two of these! So good).
At 11, I was huuuuungry for lunch. I had the lunch I had prepped on Sunday for the week: Apple Bacon Chicken Salad, on top of some spinach. I also had a Banana Protein muffin from Dashing Dish on the side. I made up a batch of these yesterday and they’re good, but I realized I forgot to add any sweetener… oops. But my apartment smelled like banana bread so it’s all good.
After that it was off to class! After my first class I was feeling hungry again so I had an orange and another banana protein muffin (sorry no orange picture… just wasn’t thinking!)
Later I had some celery and carrots (took the photo after snacking out of my baggie…) and then a KIND bar.
When I got home I had 2 servings of my Summer Squash Quiche that I made on Sunday (the picture below is 2 servings). I wasn’t super impressed with this recipe, it was kind of flavorless and mushy… The cheese was the winner. Haha.
After dinner I had some protein ice cream with PB2 sauce and sugar free maple syrup.
Aaaaand then I had another bowl a little bit later on. I didn’t take a picture because it looked exactly the same… I’m a creature of habit.
Do you have any “food habits” right now?
Does anyone else have weird schedules they have to plan their meals around?
i am constantly cycling through different food habits. i’m on a protein shake kick (obviously) and lately i’ve been on a huge salad for lunch kick. not bad habits to have. better than my cheese fry habit in the days of yore 🙂
glad you tried the muffins – sorry you forgot sweetener. they still look really good though!
They were still good!
My classes 3 days a week are from 11:30 – 2:30, so I have to figure out how to plan lunch around that! Either have an early lunch, or have a decent snack and then lunch afterwards. Decisions, decisions. 😀
That is an awkward one! I had something similar last year but since I’d eat breakfast around 9 (I had an early morning pre-workout snack) I went for a big snack that I could inconspicuously eat in class, usually a slice up apple and granola bat doesnt draw much attention!
After our e-chat yesterday (thanks for all the advice, by the way!! Feeling more empowered than ever now!) I’m definitely going to be paying more attention to your WIAWs from now on. 🙂 Do you think the apple pie oats would taste just as good with peaches? (Or at least nearly as good?)
Oh! And I tried your protein ice cream last week for the first time — definitely a new favourite bedtime snack!! 🙂
I’m glad!! And I definitely think it would be great with peaches, I’ve done that before and loved it!
definitely some delicious foods! I’d love to eat your WIAW for a day! (:
A school schedule can be tough to plan around! I’m no longer in school, but last year I had a couple of classes that were from 4:30-7:10pm, and I wouldn’t normally get home until close to 8pm or later. Dinner would always be weird on those nights…
Those apple pie oats look incredible and I definitely need to try them soon. Perfect for fall!
They are great in the fall when apples are at their best!
When I was in school I was constantly trying to find ways to transport snacks and bring filling meals that didn’t take up a lot of space. It was a challenge but I’m so glad that I learned how to do it. Where I work now, very few people actually bring lunch. A few people pick up a lean cuisine and microwave but most people “forget” and then go out for lunch. I can’t imagine how expensive that habit can become!
Haha the guy I worked with this summer went out (as in a restaurant) every day for lunch!! I thought it was crazy
I find it tough to plan around my workouts. They vary based on if I’m taking a workout class, which start between 10-1, or running after work of something.
I think the key with workouts is plan them to end right before a meal, or be sure to have a small snack right after with carbs and protein. But I agree, when I used to workout in the middle of the day it could be awkward!
that squash casserole looks SO delicious!
My food habit at the moment is salads – I can’t get enough of them!
I’m always up for a fresh salad! So good!
I am a pancake freak right now!! Can’t get enough of them for breakfast.
I am totally having a protein pancake almost every other day! (40 grams) baby! SO delicious. I love the idea of those Kind bars–looks tasty!
I keep meaning to try your big protein pancake!! Maybe after my 20 miler this Sunday!
Those muffins look delicious! I looked up the recipe, and I can’t believe they’re only 58 calories. I will definitely be trying them soon!
They are so good, and I always end up eating 2!
whoa that quiche looks good! Looks like you are falling into a nice school routine!
your apple pie oats look so freakin delicious EVERY time! haha 🙂
one of my food ‘habits’ was having a tortilla with peanut butter or almond butter every. single. day. sometimes even twice a day! i ate that for 2-3 years but only recently did i realize that somewhere in the past few months i’ve stopped eating so many. but i still eat almond butter every day in some way or form! 🙂
Oh I definitely have almond butter every day!
Your protein ice cream looks amazing! Now I want to go make some 🙂
I’m obsessed!
One of my food habits is eating oatmeal almost every day for breakfast. I just never get sick of it!
I had a really awkward schedule over the summer where I worked from 4-8 at the hospital. So I would usually have a really big snack/mini meal at 3:30 and then have dinner when I got home at 8:15. I didn’t mind the awkward eating times, but I hated that it meant that I was always eating my family’s leftovers instead of getting to cook dinner myself!
I never get sick of oatmeal either!!!
Totally eyeing that quiche.. I’ve nver had quiche but yours look so so good! And your breakfast… mmmm.. 🙂
Haha! I love how your labtop’s in most of your pictures…sigh…life of a student..That’s what I do too…eating by my computer all by my lonesome self.
I leave my house at 5:45 (that’s am) and don’t come back until 7 (that’s pm) so yea…my meal times are all messed up.
How are you doing, Katie? Hope things are going well!
Hahaha I like that you noticed. My laptop is my TV and my computer and my desk is also my only table… lol so everything happens there. And I’m good! I hope you’re doing well too, Min!
That protein ice cream looks delish! I keep trying to think of other things I can have once the weather cools off but I still love my smoothies!
I know, I’m so not ready to give them up, it’s going to have to get really cold for me to stop eating it! haha
Oooh that salad looks yummy! I love apples in salads, but for some reason forget to add them a lot of times. Your eats look great, thanks for sharing!
I would never have thought to put them in if it weren’t for the recipe!
Mmm that salad looks delicious Katie dearrr 🙂 That is kind of an awkward time to have to eat… a bit too early, but also too late if you were to wait! Ahh well, breakfast earlier was a good plan. I don’t blame you for enjoying that particular oatmeal recipe the best, it looks perfect!
I have been enjoying whipped cottage cheese with peanut butter lately… the pb is whipped into it, yumm
Ooooo that sounds good. I thought about whipping peanut flour into it, but I bet just plain old PB is even better!
Everyday is a weird schedule for me between work and school. I make it work. The best thing is to just be prepared. I always have extra snacks and I prep on the weekend so I have all I need for the week. Also I have learned to eat some food cold so that way I can have some different foods. It’s not ideal but I make it work.
Food prep on the weekend is definitely the key! Haha I’ve slowly learned this the hard way.
