  1. It looks like you ate lots of great food in Charleston! Some of my friends go down there on a regular basis and always talk about how there are so many restaurant choices. Grits are actually one of the few foods that I really don’t like.

    • There really are a ton of great restaurants! Haha and I don’t think you’ve had these grits… it was like half butter and cream, half grits.

    • I thought they were pretty good, great salty snack. I got mine in a Kona Kase (review coming) so I’m not sure where to buy them.

    • We’ve built a great little community on our own through our facebook group, and there’s also the Chicago Blogger Network as well!

  2. The sound of those dairy-free oats is awesome! And for some reason I prefer eating out of cheap bowls. Call me weird, but my cabinets are full of ceramic bowls and I choose to eat every single meal out of this green plastic one that my mom gave me to use at school… It has reindeers on it… No shame 😉

Also, that salad from Sultanas looks fabulous! So many different toppings.

I’ve never had hard core grits before, so that would be a no to the grits and shrimp combo. Also, for some reason my family always seems to gravitate towards denny’s/bob evans and steakhouse-type places while on vacation. So odd!

    • haha well since I made the oats in the microwave instead of on the stove, I figured why transfer to a nice bowl when that just means more dishes to wash!

    • Haha someone else mentioned that too – I should look out for it! I just know I’ll finish off the whole box in a day or two… Lol maybe you can bring me a baggie of it?

  3. oh yum those overnight dairy free oats look so satisfying and topped with almond butter…heaven!!
loving the look of your salad too + that popcorn flavour sounds so good; im on a popcorn kick at the moment!

  4. I like eating local food on vacation so no restaurant in particular. I have never had shrimp and grits, but I do put raisins in cheese grits.

  5. I had those exact shrimp and grits when I was on vacation in Charleston; our entire meal at 82 Queen was amazing but that was definitely my favorite!

    • omg, they opened one literally 50 yards from my building, it is SO dangerous. I’ve turned it into a twice a week (at least) habit. Needs to stop or my wallet isn’t going to be happy…

  6. Love 82 Queen!! My favorite restaurant is in Charleston- Halls Chop House. It’s amazing. Anyway, did you try the biscuits from 82 Queen that they give you for free?! They are sooo good with whipped butter 🙂

    • I do not eat dairy free! I use almond milk at home and don’t usually buy dairy, but I definitely include it in my diet every once and a while and when I buy coffee drinks at cafes!

      • so you can eat cheese and all dairy now? I read your post on being intolerant to dairy, but I see you eat Quest Bars with whey in addition to yogurts. Sorry, just confused! You do buy chobani and quest bars, no?

        • My doctor told me to avoid dairy, almost two years ago, to help figure out my digestive issues. I’ve discovered I basically have IBS and I know that gluten and soy make my symptoms worse so I avoid those. I also avoid most artificial sweeteners (except stevia) when I can. However, it’s not an absolute diet and always changing depending on my lifestyle and stress level at the time. I always allow myself a little wiggle room to enjoy things that I like since there doesn’t seem to be a “perfect” diet for me.
