A couple months ago Caitlin wrote a post about writing a list of 100 dreams, inspired by a book she’s reading called 168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think by Laura Vanderkam. I read the post just after my 25th birthday, and it got me thinking about dreams in life and I decided to write out my list of 100 dreams.

I finally went back to the list this weekend to add to it, and I’ve gotten up to 50. Haha 100 is a lot, especially when you don’t know what direction your life is going in. However, I do think the 50 I have now are ones that I can start working on, and slowly checking off. My only issue would be remembering to go back to the list, so it’s fresh in my mind. I guess the best thing to do is say YES to opportunities that come my way.

Some of these are pretty silly (own a hammock) while others are much more serious. Some are big and life-long goals while others are something I could honestly run out and do right now. But it’s nice to have a balance like that, especially so I can start checking them off sooner rather than later!

I split my list up into a couple sections to make it a little easier to read through. Here are my first 50:

Please Note – these are numbered but while editing the #s aren’t showing up/they’re a little messed up. I promise there are fifty…

  1. I also want to travel through Europe, own a dog, and own some property. A huge thing off of my bucket list to be able to become a Depart of State ambassador and take the Foreign Service exam. That is something that I hope I can do. I also like that you say buy something form lululemon! haha. Have a great day. 🙂

  2. What an awesome list! I love the Lululemon and the push-up ones 🙂 I think two of mine are to live in France for a year and to visit Napa.

  3. Love this, and love that some are huge, life-long dreams and others are very acheivable!
I’d love to drive most of Highway 1 and I wouldn’t say no to owning a vacation home!!
I should really write down my bucket list, although most are travel related!

  4. This is an awesome list, hun 🙂 I’ve started lists like this in the past but then got overwhelmed and forgot about them haha. I think I want to try again at some point this year and next, though. I do have a bucket list for the year, which seems a little more manageable to me right now, and it includes a lot of the things that you mentioned, like finishing a half sub 1:50 and traveling a lot. We shall see what the year brings 🙂

    • I looked at examples and a lot were based on kids people already had and marriages… lol I couldn’t make dreams like that since I don’t know how those parts of my life will pan out! 50 was much more manageable!

  5. If you get that particular vacation house pictured, I’d be more than happy to keep it occupied when you’re not using it!

I’d really like to travel to all 50 states as well. I’ve been in 34 so far, though two of them (NC and SC) I’ve only been to when I was six months old, so technically it’s probably more like 32. My ultimate bucket list item, though, is to attend the Rose Parade, Rose Bowl, and NYE in Times Square all in the same year (as in the same calendar year…like spend Jan. 1, 2014 in Pasadena and Dec. 31, 2014 in NYC). I’ve wanted to do that for years, and every time the new year rolls around it reminds me of how badly I want to do that!

    • Haha I could invite our whole book club down with that house! And hopefully you’ll be able to make that happen! Just have to get tickets to the Rose Bowl!

    • Haha I don’t think I’ll ever be running Boston, unless I did it with a charity team! The others are my big life ones too, I think most people want those things!

  6. Its as really good exercise to write down what you want and then to behave as though you already have it. It tricks you subconscious into getting it for you. It sounds strange but it actually works. I have a book about it that was banned in the 1930’s for being too powerful, thats how good it is.

  7. Oh my gosh, I feel like we have many in common! Pay back student loans…big YES on that one for me. And I love the push-up one. Push-ups have always been soooo challenging for me. One thing I’ve always thought about doing when I’m older (but may seem strange) is be a surrogate for someone (a married or same-sex couple that can’t have children). The thought of being able to give someone a child seems overwhelming, but amazing.

  8. I love this post…big dreams make life exciting. Putting them out there is important too…you have to be clear about what you want to accomplish in life.

Things I’ve done: crossfit for a month, rode an elephant, been to Asia, been to Africa, wine tasting at a vineyard (like every weekend in Cape Town!), gallop a horse, travel through Europe (I suggest you do this SOON before kids and husband because it’s an amazing thing to do while you are single), and married my BF.

FYI…flying in a private plane in overrated in my opinion.

Owning a property, hosting thanksgiving, and flash mob are on my list!

    • Haha then I won’t be too disappointed if I never make it into a private plane. And I am SO JEALOUS you’ve ridden an elephant, I’d love to do that while in Asia!

  9. That’s awesome! I just love it! I love lists like that and reading other people’s. You have a fair few that I have on my unwritten down life list. I like the idea of writing them down. I hope you go out and buy something from Lulu tomorrow! hahaha! I was humored, in a good way, by that one for some reason. I wish you luck on your endeavors and dreams; they are just wonderful and marvelous!

  10. I love that many of your goals include travel!! I want to see the world so much. I hope to work as a performer on a cruise or on a tour soon after college for that reason exactly! If I could have a dog tomorrow I would but sadly I don’t have the time (or money) for one right now 🙁

P.S. Come to Orlando! I work at Orlando’s Universal/IOA and Harry Potter World is really neat. Small-ish but I’ve heard rumors of more to come 🙂
