Oh Hey!

Psssst.

Anyone there?

I’m baaaaaaaack!

So my “break” from blogging extended a little further than I’d anticipated, mostly because my “break” wasn’t really a break at all, and I needed some time to relax, which basically just turned into apartment hunting and then starting job hunting. I’m not good at relaxing I guess…

My time off from blogging got me thinking about a few things, including whether or not I’d return at all. I love this community, I love the friendships and connections I’ve made, and I love the opportunities I’ve been given. I was actually surprised, however, that I didn’t miss blogging at all. It was just one more added pressure that I did not need hanging over my head, and with the stress of a possibly very long job search ahead, I’m not sure how to handle adding it back in.

I have a feeling that if I do continue, things will probably change, although I’m not sure how just yet. I’m thinking that for now I’m just going to write about what I want and when I want. Haha, very selfish sounding, no? But hey, it’s my space and my time, and hopefully you will all still like it! I realize this train of thought isn’t actually going anywhere… but I feel like you’re all my friends so I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Now, an update on my life!

The Bar Exam was, well, an experience. Probably one of the most difficult and stressful things I’ve ever gone through in my life. Not only is the workload pretty much impossible, but the pressure is almost unbearable. Buuuuut you all don’t want to hear about that. Instead, today I’ll share a few of the photos that I took while trying to stay sane, and some of the better moments to catch you all up on my life!

Lots and lots of studying and coffee:

WAY too many selfies – my poor friends. Thankfully, due to snapchat, you aren’t subjected to too many…

I definitely wouldn’t have survived without a lot of great friends, family, and appreciating the little things! SO EXCITED to be normal again! Haha, have a great day everyone!

What did I miss? What are your highlights from the past two months?

What’s one little thing you’ve appreciated today?

  1. I’m so excited to see a post from you! 😀 I’ve been stalking your blog page for a while just in case my Bloglovin was incorrect. Haha.

Good luck on job and apartment hunting. Both thrilling and super scary. Just like all good things 😉

  2. WELCOME BACK!!

I’ve been checking in way more than I’d like to admit. Is it weird to miss someone you’ve never met? Haha
I started a Master’s Degree, that’s my “highlight” of the last month and a half. Yay school?

    • Haha not at all, I miss other bloggers when they take a break all the the time. And that’s awesome that you started your Masters! Good luck!

  3. Yay for getting through all the studying/test taking!! My best friend is looking for a roommate..but she lives near wrigley field. (Just thought I’d mention)

Something that happened to me in the last 2 months: I had my wedding!!!

  4. CONGRATS on being done! I had a few close friends from college just take the Bar as well, and man, I honestly doubt that there is any bigger academic challenge! Major, major, major props to you!

As far as little appreciations…today is my Birthday! I’m appreciating having another wonderful year and all of the love I have in my life.

  5. So so glad you’re back, even if it is going to be more sporadically! I have missed your posts.

I bet you feel somewhat relieved now that your bar exam is over, congratulations girl!

  6. YAYYYYY!!!!!

So happy for you that the Bar is over! WAHOOO! I am sure you rocked it <3

And as for blogging, I think it's so important to be true to you & your needs. I've found that for me too–hence why I like never blog anymore on the weekends. It's so so nice.

    xo

  7. I was just thinking about you on Tuesday night when I ran past David’s Tea. Glad to hear you are done with the bar exam!! Have you decided to stay in Chicago? Or rather are you looking for apartments in Chicago?

Summer seems like it is flying by! This month is full of wedding for me which I know will be a lot of fun.

  8. Congrats on finishing! I took it last summer, burst into tears after walking back to my hotel on the first and third days, and was absolutely positive I failed. I was wrong. It’s such a miserable experience but now when I look back on that time I mostly just remember the few fun experiences I had in June and July. I bet you did great, and most importantly, you’re DONE and you don’t have to think about it til the fall (when I’m sure you’ll be celebrating having passed)!

  9. Hi Katie, glad to see you are back and that you are a bit less stressed these days!

I of course completely understand about blogging and while there are many like myself who enjoy reading your blog, only do it if you truly want to! I forced myself for a while there and it became just a plain chore to actually publish anything. I’m thinking I will get back to it in time, but for now, I’m having a much better time reading other people’s blogs, including yours ( 🙂 ) and not spending so much time on my own. Whatever you decide is fine of course m’dear 😀

P.s. are you going to HLS this year? Likely you have already posted yay or nay, though I must have missed it!

p.p.s Molly is one fine looking lady as always!

  10. Welcome back and yay for surviving the bar exam! Isn’t that 18 Rabbits Bar delicious? I’ve only had it once in FL, but haven’t seen it up here? Where did you find them?

  11. OMG Katie YAY! I am so happy to see a new post from you! I must admit I do hope you continue on with the blog, but totally understand your hesitation. I hardly have the time to read all my favorite blogs every day. I can’t even imagine what it’s like actually writing your own. Do what is best for Katie- know we support and love you

  12. so happy to see this post pop up in my feedly! thanks for coming back babe, but i know what you mean… i am going to have to make some changes once school starts in september. this is my year to shine and i don’t want blogging to pressure me in any way shape or form. i’m making so many great connections through blogging and the opportunities blogging provides you is incredible; however, i know that if i want to succeed in school i cannot be blogging/reading blogs like i am now. how do we manage this!? maybe you and i can chat over text or facetime or something? i would really love that. i would also really love if you texted me some selfies once in a while 😉 LOL love u

    • Haha I will text you selfies ALL THE TIME! My poor friends here are subjected to it every day. I’m definitely having a hard time balancing the time and mental energy that blogging takes with everything else in my life. I never realized until I stopped how much energy and thought I put into blogs every day! It’s just so hard to let go… We’ll see.

  13. Welcome back! Your posts have been missed.

I agree with your sentiment, blogging should not be just one more thing hanging over your head, but rather an enjoyable thing you do when you feel the need to get thoughts down in writing and share them with others or just to keep a publicly digital record for yourself to look back on in years to come. Also, congrats on taking the Bar exam! 😉
