Soooo we’re all ready for a fresh new week, yes? I certainly am, that’s for sure. Although I had a pretty long and emotionally taxing week (for many reasons, some of which you all experienced as well!) I ended up having a great weekend! My Friday was actually more like a school day, since I was up at 5:15am, off to the gym, had volunteer training at a legal aid clinic and then spent the rest of the day at school getting work done. However, Saturday was my fun day!
I had a nice, lazy morning and then headed out to the ‘burbs to meet up with Chelsey! I hadn’t seen her in a bout 2 months so it was great to see her and her growing belly! I still can’t believe she’ll be having TWINS! So exciting.
We met up at Whole Foods, which I was late for… Traffic on 290. If you live in Chicago you know what I mean. Luckily there were plenty of samples for her to munch on…

Don’t worry, I was stopped (in traffic…) when I responded to her.
Once I arrived we hit up the salad bar for lunch. I got a mish-mash of things but we both agreed that we should have just filled our bowls with the BBQ Pulled Pork and Mashed Potatoes. Guess we know better for next time.
After lunch it was time for our favorite activity – FROYO! We love it. So much. I can’t see Chelsey without including frozen yogurt in the deal.
After getting to catch up with Chelsey I headed back downtown (more traffic) got to see this adorable face when I dropped off the car:
By the way she can now pick up that soccer ball in her mouth and carry it around. She’s so proud.
That evening it was another great friend activity: TACO NIGHT with Emily and Lindsay! I had a mango-passion margarita, we all shared some guac and chips, and I had a duck taco (sounds odd, it was amazing) and one of their chicken tacos.
Yes, I forgot to take pictures of the tacos. But really, if you live in Chicago, you MUST check out Taco Joint!
I also went to a great yoga class on Sunday morning. I went to one yoga class this past fall and that was the only class I’ve been to in about a year… I felt like I really needed some hot yoga so I headed to Core Power Yoga for their Hot Power Fusion Class. It was amazing! Kind of like Vinyasa and Bikram combined and the teacher was fantastic. She walked around the whole time and was saying the most encouraging and thoughtful things the whole class. I think my mind needed that more than my body!
What was the best thing you did this weekend?
Are you a yoga fan? What about tacos?
You and Chelsey meeting up kinda makes my day! You’re both fab 🙂
Aww thanks, it made my day too!
Sounds like a fun weekend! My favorite thing this weekend was family game night Saturday night with my boys.
Aww that sounds like fun, I love game nights!
Whole Foods, fro yo, blogger meet ups and tacos? Sounds like pretty much the perfect weekend! Especially the tacos part – I’ve been obsessed with Mexican food lately!
The best thing I did this weekend was go to a staff party involving lots of good food cooked by our chef, good company, and lots of wine!!
Ooooo a staff party sounds like fun! Especially when good food and wine are involved…
I did outdoor yoga this weekend.
on our deck.
led by a sevenyearold 🙂
and it rocked.
Um can I participate?
Note taken: Taco Joint is a must stop! Sounds like a fun weekend. You can’t go wrong with WF, froyo, and Mexican food! 🙂
Definitely try out Taco Joint!
Sounds like a great weekend! When whole foods hot bar and fro yo are involved you know it’s good!
Haha WF hot bar always makes my weekend better!
I also had a meal from the Whole Foods salad bar this weekend. (It was delicious.) I totally love tacos and all things involving Mexican food. I might be addicted. I’m also a huge fan of yoga and love hot vinyasa classes. The studio I go to is heated to just under 90F and I always get so much deeper into stretches than in non-heated studios.
After going to hot yoga a couple years ago, I can’t do normal yoga anymore! It’s just not the same!
I’m going to Chicago in late June for a cousin’s wedding – I’ll have to check out Taco Joint! Glad you had a good time with Chelsey – all the Whole Foods food looks amazing as always. Here’s to a less emotionally stressful week!
Definitely try out Taco Joint, it has a great atmosphere and pretty inexpensive!
I had tacos at home last night 😀 adore them! A duck taco sounds particularly intriguing though.
I really should make my own tacos sometime!
Kudos for volunteering!
Best thing I did this weekend – well at the time it was the Zombie Pub Crawl, but I’m still feeling the effects from that.
I love me some bikram yoga when I had more time! and who doesn’t love tacos??
Ummm Zombie Pub Crawl? Haha that sounds pretty fun!
I hope this week is better for you. It sounds like you had a great Saturday to end a hard week/start a new week off great! I don’t think I have ever tried duck before, my current favorite tacos are mushroom with Asian slaw.
I actually don’t know if I’ve ever had mushroom on a taco! I would’t be opposed!
Yoga and tacos? Two of my favorite things! Now, if they could just combine, we’d have a winner! Looks like a fun weekend.
Hahahaha yoga and tacos together? I see a new business plan happening here… ha
sounds like fun! I need to try to get into yoga! I think it would be good for my mind too!
I really should go more, I hope I can!
Whole Foods + froyo sounds like the most amazing meal combination of all time. And I totally go insane over the free samples at Whole Foods. The other day, they had blackberries to sample…you can be I was standing over that little bowl for a very, very long time. Who can say no to free raspberries?!
I’m not a huge hot yoga fan so I’ve stopped doing that, but I’m going to my first Hatha Yoga class today! We’ll see how that goes. 🙂
Omg free berries sounds pretty good to me!
Sounds like an awesome weekend! I like yoga when it’s more stretching focused than Pilates, although there’s nothing wrong with a nice core killer sometimes!
I agree – I really wanted a good stretch and luckily that’s what I got!
Yum! My boyfriend and I found our new favorite taco spot in boston over the weekend. It’s a little out the way, but SO worth it.
It’s always worth a little extra travel for a great restaurant!
That margarita looks delicious! I had to work both days this weekend, no fun!
Ugh, no fun, I hope you get some time off!
Mmm taco joint! That duck taco may be my new favorite too. I was so glad to see you guys on Saturday night and I can’t wait to spend more time with you all this week/weekend!
It’s going to be a good week!!!!
love wholefoods pulled pork.
best thing this weekend was spending quality time with our family and going swimming with our niece 🙂
Aww that sounds like fun, I’m glad you two got to spend time with family.
We have an amazingggg place in Tampa called Taco Bus. It’s pretty much straight from Mex. So delish! So glad you got to catch up with Chelsey. I love catching up with friends I haven’t seen in awhile.
Oooo Taco Bus sounds like a cool place!
It always makes me happy to hear that someone has had a great weekend. It must be hard not to have a good weekend when blog friends, froyo and Mexican food are involved. Now my tummy is growling!
Haha me too! After reading all these comments I just want some mexican again!
That margarita sounds fantastic! Mango is my favorite flavor :).
It was pretty good, I love mango too!
I think my mind could really use some yoga too. I need to start going to the yoga classes at my gym!
It was so relaxing, I felt great when I left!
Hmmm Tacos. ALso, we should talk about CorePower Yoga. I sorta miss it after my free week awhile back.
It’s my favorite yoga place in the city… if only it didn’t cost so much…
Ahhhh!! I loathe 290 traffic!!’
I’ve never had a good experience on that highway…
I need to go to Taco Joint! all the pics from your visits make it look delicious.
I love Core Power Yoga and the Hot Power Fusion is one of my favorite classes. Yoga kind of got pushed to the side in my schedule, but I am trying to be better about getting in at least one class a week. I usually have Sunday mornings free and am up for yoga, let me know if you want a buddy! 🙂
I’m really hoping to try and work it in once a week now too! We’ll have to try and go one Sunday! I can’t do this week because of my 5K but I’ll let you know!
I have the Ravenswood Run this Sunday too -but definitely let me know! 🙂
Just thought I’d let you know that your link to Lindsay leads to an error message!
Finally catching up on your blog! Work blocks your blog… which is strange! But anyway. Those Tacos were GOOOOOD!! Thanks for introducing me!!
Lol well this is basically spam, so…
